Introduction to the project

This project, entitled Improving the mathematics outcomes of students through analysis and utilisation of data from the Queensland Years 3,5 and 7 test outcomes aimed to enhance Indigenous students' mathematics learning outcomes in five North Queensland Independent/Catholic primary schools through developing teachers' and teacher aides' abilities to use Years 3, 5 & 7 test results to prevent and remediate mathematics misunderstandings.

3, 5, 7 Tests

This project was undertaken in 2007 by means of two professional development seminars, supported classroom trials by teachers of the processes presented at the seminars, and development of classroom resources. The seminars, trials and resources covered assessments and interventions for each school's 2006 test results (first semester) and 2007 and future results (second semester).

The project was overseen by the Indigenous Education Leadership Institute (IELI) and was funded by an Australian Federal Government ASISTM grant.

This material has been developed as a part of the Australian School Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Project funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training as a part of the Boosting Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics Teaching (BISTMT) Programme.
